Easter is the most significant celebration of the year for Christians, setting aside this special time each year to spend time with family and friends.

During Easter, one of the most special traditions is decorating and dying eggs, as they are a great way to share the story of Easter with children. Today on our weekly blog, we are going to share a few ideas on how to decorate Easter eggs, which will give your children a fun, creative and colourful experience.

Decoupage eggs

Mod Podge or flour and water glue and patterned paper are all you need to create these fashionable eggs: "Tear and paste - that's all there is to it!"

Cactus eggs

We're suckers for these adorable succulent-inspired eggs. Plant them in tiny terracotta pots and top them with teensy crepe flowers for a more authentic look!

Robin's egg Easter eggs

This ethereal turquoise looks otherworldly, but the blue dye actually comes from all-natural red cabbage. Spray them with edible gold paint for a pretty speckled effect. Lay the eggs on a few sheets of paper towels. Dip a dry bristle brush or old toothbrush into the paint and run your index finger along the bristles above the eggs. Let the paint dry before splattering the opposite side.

Indigo marble Easter eggs

The secret to achieving a marbling effect? Swirl food colouring onto shaving cream or whipped cream and dip eggs into the mixture! Just be sure to wear gloves to spare yourself from staining your hands. Place the egg onto a paper towel and let it dry for about 20 minutes. Wipe the remaining cream off with a clean paper towel to reveal your colourful marbled pattern.

Natural-dye Easter eggs

Turn to your arsenal of roots and vegetables if you're interested in taking a more natural approach to egg dyeing. Turmeric, yellow onion skins, beets, spinach or parsley, red cabbage and blueberries work best to achieve these muted hues.

Rubber band Easter eggs

Do the twist - with some rubber bands, that is. Before dunking in a vibrant dye, wrap hard-boiled eggs in bands of multiple widths in any and every direction. No two eggs will be the same, so just go with the flow.

Melted Crayon eggs

Using non-toxic wax crayons, draw on eggs while they're still warm. The wax will melt and eventually harden, creating a vibrant design.

Sticker-dyed eggs

Put stickers on the eggs before you soak them in food colouring. Once you've taken them out and they're dry, peel the stickers off to get a cute muted colour or white design!
